Pastor Gary D. Jones
Rev. Gary D. Jones answered the call to ministry in March 1984. He was licensed and ordained in 1986 at Mt. Zion Disciples of Christ Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina. That same year, he was assigned to Thaddeus Disciples of Christ Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he faithfully served for twelve and a half years.
In April 2000, he was called to his second pastorate at Cedar Point Disciples of Christ Church in Newton Grove, North Carolina, where he served for just over eighteen months. God blessed in both ministries through extensive building projects, enhanced youth outreach programs, the development of an after-school tutorial program at Cedar Point, and the securing of the church’s 501(c)(3) status. This allowed the churches to further support the Jaycees Burn Center, the Ronald McDonald House, and the American Cancer Society.
Rev. Gary D. Jones began his pastorate at Pilgrim Baptist Church on January 3, 2021. Alongside his ministry, his professional business career spanned twenty-seven years with Star Communications Telephone Company.
Rev. Jones was reared in the small town of Salemburg, North Carolina, in Sampson County, and was educated in the Sampson County school system. He grew up at Mingle Hill Disciples of Christ Church in Salemburg. It was there that he was introduced to the Scriptures, and the foundation was laid that would ultimately lead him to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rev. Jones is married to Antoinette O. Jones. They were blessed with one son, Gabriel, daughter-in-law Hanna Bass Jones, and two grandchildren, Bryer and Emmalynn.
